Neophema Breeder of rare mutations or selection

Bourke's (not all mine)

I like to introduce myself;

My name is Hans van Rooijen (The Breeder) and kept almost large parakeets my whole life. At home we had rosella's, my dad was in those day's a pioneer in keeping and breeding rossela's. The mutations we now see, were not in those days. Me as a little boy liked to keep and breeding already. In 1976 I married and left my parents home, let me tell it another way my wife Toos and me kept living in the parently house and the rest off the family left with a part of the birds to a bigger residence. Due to a busy work we had to trottle

back on breeding birds. It is not that we stopped keeping birds but for breeding and more there wasn't time enough. At a time we moved to an other residence and bought a bigger house in the town of Leusden. Here we started, my wife and me again in a serieus way with the hobby. After some experiments we decided for the neophema's and there mutations. Recently we added some scarlets to ouer collection.

In the meantime my son Jack also started with the bird keeping and made his way with rossela's. Also other species have his interests. At the moment we breed over a hundred young neophema's a year. Every year I sell about half my breeding pairs and select with the young and some new bought birds the new breeding pairs. I always keep a lot more birds as that I require, because not every pair will match. Thats why I always have some pairs and birds to sell in the spring an summer, when I have selected my breeding pairs.
